Nomination / Intent to Run Form
The Hempstead
Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the annual
General Meeting is set for Monday, November 12th. It
will be held at Gazebo Park at 6:30 pm and is open to all
Chamber members.
The highlight
of this meeting is the election of board members. There are 8
total members, with 4 seats being up for election every year.
Each position is a 2 year term. This year there is one current
board member, Sherri Rumph, running for re-election and three
positions without incumbents.
If you work
at or own a business that has been a member of the Chamber for
at least 6 months, you are eligible to run.
Board members
are required to attend a meeting on the 2nd Monday
evening of the each month, usually lasting about 2 hours, and
participate in the planning and implementation of the Watermelon
Festival and Festival of Lights. We also have ribbon cuttings
and mixers based on the needs of our members that you will need
to attend. The Chamber is also in the planning stages of a
community volunteer program which you will want to participate
in.
Sounds like a
lot of work? Honestly, it can be at times. But for those of
you who are committed to improving our community and having some
fun while you’re doing it, its well worth it. There are some
big projects coming up and we need dedicated, hardworking,
creative individuals to get them off the ground. This is a very
rewarding volunteer position and we ask that you consider
joining us to move Hempstead forward.
Please return
forms by faxing them to 979.921.0599 or dropping them off at the
Hotline Press office by Oct. 31, 2007.
